Summary - Development of a Risk-Based Integrated Management System

Businesses operating in the Australian Railway Industry are faced with significant challenges in their endeavour to provide competitive services. These challenges include significant overlapping regulatory requirements for OH&S, Rail Safety and Environmental Management, as well as delivering quality solutions to tight deadlines, and the demands of growing a business at the same time. In order to address these challenges United Group Rail is developing a risk-based Integrated Management System (IMS).
This paper discusses some of the aspects involved in developing an IMS to support the business activities of United Group Rail that include design, manufacture and maintenance, and enable the business to provide a complete asset management service to customers.
